Risborough Rangers Football Club has undergone a period of significant change and progress in recent months. With the appointment of a new first-team manager at the start of the season and the sad passing of our long-serving chairman, Richard Woodward, in February, the club entered a new chapter. In honour of Richard’s vision and commitment, a new Executive Team has been formed to continue his legacy and deliver on the long-term goals he set in motion.
One of the first major milestones achieved under this new leadership was the merger of the Junior and Senior clubs, completed at the beginning of this season. This marks a major step forward in our ambition to become truly ‘One Club’, uniting all age groups, teams, and volunteers under a shared identity and purpose.
On the pitch, the team has made an excellent start to the campaign — currently enjoying an eight-game unbeaten run in the league. This fantastic form is a testament to the hard work of our new management team, the commitment of our players, and the enthusiasm of our supporters. With key fixtures coming up against sides at the top end of the table, we encourage everyone to get down to The Kamtech Stadium and get behind the team. Your support really does make a difference.
Our recent away win against Arlesey Town also caught the attention of Proper Football, who described the match as a “great advert for Step 5 football” after Risborough secured a thrilling 3–2 victory with a late goal. During their visit, Director of Football Mark Eaton spoke about the club’s ambitions both on and off the field — including our drive for promotion and the structural changes that have taken place behind the scenes.
This season saw the club formally become a Community Interest Company (C.I.C.), a landmark step designed to ensure that every penny generated by the club is reinvested directly back into its growth and community initiatives. The Executive Team is committed to professionalising operations and creating a sustainable structure that benefits players, volunteers, supporters, and the wider community.
Looking ahead, the club has ambitious plans for the future. These include the refurbishment and modernisation of the clubhouse — transforming it into a welcoming, multi-purpose community hub — and the introduction of a women’s team to strengthen our player pathway. We will also continue to expand our Pan-Disability initiative through our Chiltern Comets group, spearheaded by Callula Ashby and her dedicated coaching staff, ensuring that football at Risborough Rangers is truly for everyone.
As Mark Eaton said during his interview:
“We want to make this club a great place to play football, but also an inclusive club — creating a pathway for the kids and a club to be proud of.”
There’s a real sense of optimism and momentum around Risborough Rangers right now. The merger, the C.I.C. formation, and the growth of our teams all signal a club moving forward with purpose and unity. With the continued backing of our supporters, local partners, and community, we believe the future is bright. Together, we’re building a club that reflects the very best of Risborough — ambitious, inclusive, and proudly community-driven.
