Rangers Round Up #1

Rangers Round Up #1

James Chennells

Cup magic, a historic new Women’s Team, and fresh clubhouse upgrades: bringing you the latest from RRFC.

Welcome to the first edition of the Rangers Round Up, designed to keep you up to date with all the action on and off the pitch at RRFC.

This week, we cover the Men’s First Team's victory in the FA Cup Extra-Preliminary Round, their upcoming FA Vase match against Holmer Green, exciting news regarding the newly formed RRFC Women’s Team, and the Club Lottery.

Victory in the Cup

On Saturday, the Men’s First Team travelled to Abingdon, hoping for a victory to progress to the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup. After a strong start and two early goals, the Reds looked well-placed to advance. However, cup ties are rarely straightforward, and a second-half goal from Abingdon resulted in a tense finish. The Rangers stood firm; this hard-fought victory means we will face Wells City Football Club for the first time on 22nd August. It is a 200-mile round trip, but it will undoubtedly be worth it to experience some more cup magic. You can read the full match report here.

Sights on Saturday

The Men’s Senior Team has enjoyed a highly positive start to the season. Following a robust pre-season, an opening home draw in the league and a subsequent away win have secured us four points out of a possible six. Combined with our FA Cup triumph, we now have two wins from our first three competitive fixtures.

The Reds now host Holmer Green in the FA Vase, setting their sights on another victory and progression to the next round. With excellent weather forecast for Saturday, it promises to be an exciting local fixture. You can purchase tickets for the match here.

RRFC Women’s Team

It is with great pride and excitement that we announce the official establishment of the Risborough Rangers Women’s Team. This project has been in development for quite some time, and Dan Neale has worked tirelessly to make it a reality.

We are also delighted to welcome Dan Gray and Hannah Jones to the management team. Their combined experience and drive make for a perfect partnership, and we greatly look forward to seeing what the future holds for the squad.

Clubhouse Development

Our volunteers have been working tirelessly throughout the summer to ensure the CMG is ready for the new season. During the break, we renovated the kitchen and installed new beer taps, meaning we are now able to serve draught beer alongside a brand-new food menu. Be sure to check out these fantastic upgrades at our next home game!

Club Lottery

At RRFC, we are committed to achieving our long-term vision of providing first-class facilities and inclusive community days for all our players and supporters. A significant portion of every Fundraising Club Lottery ticket sold goes directly back into the club.

These monthly grants allow us to make further investments in our infrastructure, ensuring RRFC remains a vibrant hub for the local community. Our ambitions include renovating the clubhouse, upgrading equipment across the club, investing in coaches for all age groups, and supporting our growing women's and girls' sections.

Plus, there are significant prizes to be won in every draw:

  • 1st Prize: £5,000 (plus a chance to win a £20,000 Bonus Jackpot)
  • 2nd Prize: £2,000
  • 3rd Prize: 20 x £50 winners
