There are some matches that are a pleasure to report on – lots of goal mouth action, plenty of notable incidents and contentious issues like sending’s off, etc… Sadly, this wasn’t one of them.
An instantly forgettable first 45 minutes saw no notes of any significance made by this reporter.
The second period promised immediate improvement when Rangers Andrei Chiriac sent a 51st minute effort wide when well placed. Harpenden’s Ollie Salami put a free-kick just over on 67 minutes but apart from a flurry of substitutions from both sides, nothing else of note took place until the 87th minute when Elliott Buchanan broke through and rounded the keeper but sadly his effort hit the side netting.
And so to penalties. The visiting keeper Connor Freeman made two fine saves whilst his team mates slotted home their first four strikes to ensure they moved into the Third Round and a mid week away tie at either Potton United or Biggleswade United. For Risborough, they can now concentrate fully on the League beginning with a trip to high flying Cockfosters this coming Saturday, November 1st.
