Another Draw Following British Airways Late Arrival.

Late equaliser denies Rangers a win.

In a game that Rangers needed to win, as they scrap for survival, British Airways' late equaliser came as a cruel blow, but the truth is, a draw was probably a fair result with both sides enjoying good periods. The visitors were forced to wear the Rangers away shirts, having brought the wrong colour kit with them, but the unfamiliar shirts had no affect as they matched Rangers throughout. For once it was a firm pitch at the Kamtech Stadium in the Spring sunshine and Rangers enjoyed a good opening ten minutes without really troubling the Airway's keeper. The best chance came for Ali Bangura after good work from Arel Amu, the winger denied at the near post. BA's first chance came in the 14th minute and resulted in a goal following a corner, Rangers' new keeper, Connor Coulson, made a good save from the first header but Rangers failed to clear the loose ball and it was slammed home via a deflection by Essex. Amu was almost in minutes later but scuffed his chance as Rangers tried to make amends. BA almost got another when a freakish ricochet looped over Coulson's head and came down off the bar, the Rangers keeper gratefully gathering; the most comedic moment being the visiting centre-back claiming vehemently that it had crossed the line from his vantage point all of 70 yards away! Rangers pressed for an equaliser with Josh Chamberlain's superb pass just evading both Amu and Bangura. BA hit back and Coulson pulled off an excellent save when the visitors should have scored. Shortly after, Amu's header from a corner was deflected wide by the back of a defenders head and then Bangura's run and cross was nicked off the foot of Chamberlain as he levelled to shoot. 15 minutes before the break a good turn by Amu just inside the box ended with his shot high over the bar. BA countered, a fierce cross-shot evaded everyone as it flashed across the Rangers goalmouth and moments later a corner was headed over Coulson's crossbar. Rangers equalised on the stroke of half-time, a ball over the top for Bangura to race through and superbly lob the advancing keeper from 30 yards.

The second half began with a little silliness and chest puffing, forcing the referee, who had an excellent game, to produce a couple of yellow cards, before BA beat the offside trap but not Coulson, finishing with a weak shot straight at him. Rangers found their feet again and some good pressure followed with Amu heading over a good free kick from Lewis Horne-Hayes. On the hour Risborough took the lead when a corner was re-cycled and the impressive debutant, Toib Adeyemi, headed the ball back into the danger area for Amu to score from close range. Rangers should have added a third when Horne-Hayes' dangerous free kick was headed wide by Matthews with the goal gaping. At the other end an innocuous ball into the Rangers box by British Airways was not dealt with and a penalty was awarded when a prone Colin Mugoya-Tabingwa handled the loose ball on the ground. Rangers complained but it looked pretty clear to me! The penalty was taken and Coulson pulled off a remarkable save with his feet to deny the visitors. Three minutes later and Coulson did well to punch away under pressure before Daryl Bryan-Samuels' excellent clearing header saw off more danger. BA continued to press and a well timed tackle by Luke Dunstan kept the visitors at bay and soon after an angled drive was well wide of Coulson's near post. The pressure finally told with one minute to go; The visitors were given too much space down the Rangers right, resulting in a shot parried by Coulson. The loose ball fell to Forde, who scored from a tight angle, beating Coulson at his near post to even things up. Rangers had one last chance to take all three points when, in time added on, Mealing's shot was parried, the rebound falling to Mohamed Ihid, who shot straight into the arms of the grounded keeper with the goal at his mercy. These are the games where Rangers need to pick up points and this felt like two points dropped as the Riz recorded their 12th draw of the season, but that would do a disservice to British Airways who deserved their point and could have nicked it but for Coulson's penalty save. Rangers travel to Reading City Tuesday night; With Edgware & Kingsbury on a great run at the moment, Risborough will need maximum points in Reading and at home next Saturday when they face Virginia Water. Kick off at the Kamtech Stadium on Saturday is 3pm.

Rangers Man Of The Match: Connor Coulson: Making his debut in goal for Rangers the former Dunstable man made several good saves, including that all important spot-kick.
