Risborough made it three wins in a week as they came from behind to defeat high flying Biggleswade United and in the process move back into the Play-Off places of the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division.
Rangers started well, with plenty of possession and generally keeping their hosts penned back in their own half. However, apart from a scuffed 23rd minute shot from debutant Jack Hutchinson they rarely troubled Josh Mollison in the home goal. Biggleswade gradually grew into the game – the lively Scott Metcalfe had a couple of shots just miss the target and a 42nd minute corner routine had to be hacked off the Risborough goal line. Half time, 0-0.
The second period again saw the home side enjoying a lot more possession without troubling Ben Bridle-Card in the Rangers goal. Until the 56th minute, that is, when an in-swinging corner was missed by the Rangers defence but not by a stooping Kit Brown who gleefully nodded the ball past Bridle-Card.
The returning Hassan Jalloh and the back from injury Elliott Buchanan were then introduced by manager Gary Meakin and once again Rangers started to see more of the ball. A quickly taken 76th minute Hassan free kick just outside the home area zipped across the United box and fell kindly to Manny Folarin who managed to power the ball home to put Rangers back on level terms.
Ten minutes later Hutchinson was upended in the United area and Ref Tom Fogden pointed to the spot. Up stepped Elliott to send Mollison the wrong way and put the visitors in front.
Make no mistake, this was a great, hard earned, three points. There are not many teams who come to the Verdant Stadium and go away with a victory. Rangers did.
Next up, tonight, is a home fixture v Crawley Green.
