The top of the table home clash with league leaders Haringey Borough went the way of the visitors in a five-goal thriller at The Kamtech Stadium.
Rangers started really well, Rio Connell in particular providing much of the attacking outlet. On 12 minutes he left his marker for dead but saw his curled shot canon off the bar. Six minutes later he again left defenders trailing and put in a great cross that saw Manny Williams tap into the empty net. Hassan Jalloh then had a 25th minute shot saved by Dillon Barnes as Risborough generally controlled proceedings in the first 45 minutes.
However, Haringey are not top without reason and they came out fired up for the second period. Just two minutes in, they had their equalizer. Rangers gave the ball away cheaply and it was pounced on by the visitors Matty Young. He saw his shot saved by Ben Bridle-Card but Jonathan Hippolyte was first to the loose ball and he slotted it home.
Eight minutes later another mistake at the heart of the home defence allowed the visitors top scorer Herson Alves to run on and calmly slot past Bridle-Card. Rangers regrouped and on 66 minutes some fantastic quick feet by Jalloh left a defender on his backside and the midfielder slotted past Barnes from an almost impossible angle. Wonderful goal.
Just as Rangers looked as through they would go on and win the game, another defensive mistake set up the visitors and after Bridle-Card had parried the first shot, Alves calmly placed the loose ball beyond the keepers reach.
Haringey weren’t going to be pegged back again and apart from a last-minute strike by Alex Cathline they managed to see the game out and move five points clear at the top of the table, much to the delight of their vocal, good-natured support.
Next up for Rangers is the longest away trip of the season this coming Saturday when they travel to Potton United. Come on the Ris!
