Rangers retained fourth place in the league table after a hard-earned draw away at Dunstable Town.
Manager Gary Meakin was forced to shuffle his pack following some late player withdrawal’s but they went at their hosts from the off and were rewarded on eight minutes when Andrei Chiriac cut inside on the left and sent in a shot that crept past the home sides keeper Charlie Smith.
Dunstable maybe second bottom of the table but they have seen a recent upturn in form and they came straight back at their opponents, Rangers keeper Ben Bridle-Card making a fine quick-fire double save just after Risborough had taken the lead. He made another great save on 37 minutes when he kept out an effort from Hadley Gleeson but he was powerless two minutes later as the home side, down to 10 men due to a sin-binning, chased a loose ball down the Rangers right, the visitors failed to clear and the home side gleefully smashed in an equaliser.
Both teams enjoyed periods of possession early in the second half, Dunstable going narrowly wide with a free-kick on 55 minutes. Their cause was helped on 67 minutes when Rangers Jaydon Ashbourne received a second yellow card and this gave the home side even more impetus in their effort to grab all three points. Bridle-Card made another great save on 72 minutes whilst all across the park the Rangers players threw everything into repelling the Dunstable attacks. They might even have nicked a winner themselves in the last minute as Josh Williams beat the off-side trap but a combination of Smith and an unfortunate rebound denied him.
Results elsewhere meant Rangers hopes of a Play Off place are still very much alive and they return to The Kamtech Stadium this coming Saturday, April 4, when they host near neighbours Tring Athletic and entry if FREE thanks to our matchday sponsor Moc&More.
