Risborough’s five match unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of Kings Langley, their fellow Play-Off hopefuls coming with a game plan that they executed to perfection to take home all three points.
At the start of play Rangers were one place above their opponents in the league table and the game showed how evenly matched the two sides are. Both enjoyed periods of possession, moving the ball around and hoping to create an opening or force an error. The visitors lively Isaiah Hillaire sent in a great cross on 20 minutes that zipped across the Rangers box but (thankfully for the home side) missed a forward adding a connection. A Rangers short corner routine on 26 minutes saw Andrei Chiriac spin and send a shot in that crashed off the Kings Langley bar whilst a 40th minute free kick by Kings top scorer Louie Collier only just cleared the Rangers bar.
The second period again saw both sides prodding and probing without really troubling either keeper. Until the 64th minute that is, when Hillaire got between two home defenders to slot past Ben Bridle-Card.
Try as they might Risborough couldn’t find a way through the visitors defence, Stefan Powell coming nearest on 87 minutes when his goal bound shot was deflected and sent harmlessly wide.
Rangers remain in the Play-Off zone with games in hand on most of the other sides and they will hope to get back to winning ways when Sawbridgeworth Town arrive at the Kamtech Stadium this coming Saturday, March 14. All support would be greatly appreciated.
