On a sunny day in Risborough, Rangers completed a League double over Harlow Town that consolidated their third-place finish in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division for the 2025/26 season.
Risborough started brightly and took an early lead when, in the fifth minute, a wonderful pass by Hassan Jalloh fell to Josh Williams who slotted home with a trademark curling effort that left Harlow keeper Dawid Krusinski clutching at thin air. They should have doubled their lead four minutes later but Andrei Chiriac’s shot went narrowly wide.
A defensive mix up on the half hour mark presented the visitors Dwade James with a great chance but he skewed his effort wide of Ben Bridle-Card’s post. Eight minutes later, Exauce Kifwasima was set up by Chiriac but saw his close-range effort well saved by Krusinski. Half-time, 1-0.
The visitors came out fired up for the second period, penning Rangers in their own half. On 49 minutes a bout of pinball in the home area saw a Harlow header come back off both the bar and Bridle-Card. Sixty seconds later, however, a fine shot by Chiriac put Rangers two up. To be fair to Harlow, they never gave up and could have scored on 53 minutes but Ishaq Ameen shot over when well placed.
On the hour mark, the in-form Chiriac added his second and Rangers third when a cross came in from the right and was met with a fine volley that flew past Krusinski.
Less that a minute later Harlow sub Josh Darby was given the freedom of the Rangers box but somehow scooped the chance over the bar. Chiriac was then denied a hat-trick by a fine 85th minute save from the Harlow custodian as Rangers comfortably saw out the game.
There is now the small matter of the Play Off Semi Final to look forward to! Wednesday 29th April, 7.45 at The Kamtech Stadium. Rangers will host F.A. Vase finalists Cockfosters. Please, let’s pack the Kamtech and give Gary, Wes and all the boys the best possible backing as they seek a place in the final against either Winslow United or Kings Langley.
Come on Ris, you can do it!
