This was Andy Hockley’s last game in charge of the team before stepping down for a well deserved break from football after 30 years in the game and 18 years since joining the club coaching at junior level.

The squad was full of all the players that have shown loyalty throughout the season and this was repaid with everyone playing apart.

We started the game in full speed and soon scored the opening goal when the impressive James Shrimpton crosses from the right to the back post where Matthew Hatt was in the right place to slot home.

The away team responded straight away to equalise but this didn’t last long as James Shrimpton blazed home a free kick high and curled pass the keeper from fully 25 yards to restore our lead.
The first change came mid way through the first half when Alex Hockley had to be replaced by James Heady after picking up a injury.
We should of added to that moments later when Corey Flynn picked up a loose ball raced forward played in Shrimps wide who fired in a cross which Gabriel Mititelu struck first time but hit the crossbar and then several attempts got blocked before being cleared.

Just before half time we gave the ball away easily and the forward for Taplow lashed it home from the edge of the box.

HT 2-2

The team sorted themselves out during the break and came out determined to get a result.
In the 58th minute we brought on subs who injected energy and pace into the game and we soon got another goal when a cross was side footed in by Dan Deakins.
Then the lively Marcus Waterhouse raced through twice but was just off target and the other well saved by the onrushing keeper.
But the impressive youth team player soon made amends when he once again beat the ageing defenders to the ball and calmly placed the ball into the net for his first senior goal.

Final Score 4-2

After the game the team gave Andy a guard of honour as he left the pitch to applause from the crowd which had several past players and supporters from previous teams.

Andy quoted “Risborough Rangers FC will hold a special place in his heart for many years to come and thanks everyone that’s involved at the club for their support and faith in his coaching ability”
